Learning to drive is a super exciting part of growing up and gaining independence. But for many reasons, especially in our distracted digital age, it can be dangerous. Phone chatting and texting, talking to friends in the car, alcohol and drugs, not always wearing a seatbelt, and just being newly licensed are all factors that make car accidents the leading cause of death for U.S. teens. The CDC reports that in 2010, roughly 2,700 teens ages 16-19 were killed and roughly 282,000 were treated and released from emergency departments for injuries from crashes.
